DAY TO DAY PROGRAM
Sunday, Departure from Copenhagen.
Departure from Copenhagen as agreed. (We have several departures a day). Pick up your rental car and set out for your first day of exploration. We recommend a visit to the little village Gasadalur, located on Vagar Island, same as the airport.
After your drive around Vagar, you will stay this first night
Monday: Day at leisure, we recommend to add on the optional tour to the bird island Mykines.
- Full day trip to the island Mykines. The trip starts with an unforgettable boat trip among the majestic hill sides. Have a look out for the charming little bird – the Puffin, that with its warm colors brighten up the North Atlantic. To reach the nesting point of the puffin you cross over land and bridges. Packed lunch will be served along the way. Back in the little village you can enjoy a cup of coffee at the local cafe, before the boat returns to Vagar Island.

Tuesday: Suðuroy Island
After breakfast you will have approx 1 hours drive to the capital of the Faroe Islands, Tórshavn. From Tórshavn you will take the local ferry to the Island Suðuroy. Here you will find many amazing hiking routes. You can hike to the top of Rávan or visit the awarded Hvannhagi. Visit the local tourist information, in order to learn more about the hiking routes in the area. We recommend the beautiful hike to Hvannhagi and the shprter trip to ”Á Røðina” where you will experience the dramatic west side of the islands. Visit some of the old colonial house and enjoy a cup of coffee or beer at the local pub café Pubbin, down by the harbor.

Wednesday: Sightseeing on Suðuroy with driver/guide
After breakfast your local guide will pick you up at our accommodation, and today you will have a guided tour of the island, so rich on history, stories and viewpoints. Packed lunch is included in the tour.

Thursday: Return to Tórshavn
After breakfast you will be taking the ferry back to Tórshavn. Her you will be given the opportunity to walk through the old colonial part of town. Narrow streets and charming houses is to be discovered down by the harbour area. The houses are still in use and here you can see how old traditions goes hand in hand with a modern world as the locals cut the gras on top of their houses with modern equipments. In Tórshavn you will find many really good local restaurants and cafes. The Faroe Island even has a Michelin restaurant. Local food is recommended, try the world famous lamb dishes, or sushi made with local seafood. Actually we think the Arctic Salmon is the best salmon in the world – so try it out.

Friday: Day at leisure – maybe take trip to Nólsoy or the village Kirkjubøur
Breakfast at your accommodation in Tórshavn. Just outside Tórshavn you will find the small Island Nósloy. Here you have almost no cars, and life is easy and quite. The local guide will tell you storries and give you a tour of the little settlement. Learn about the life in the village and enjoy lunch at the local café. Spend some time on your own, hiking to the top of the Island from where you will have a stunning view of Tórshavn – or hang around in town, while waiting for your return ferry.
Back in Tórshavn during the afternoon we recommend a little afternoon drive to the village Kirkjubøur, the cultural center of the Faroe Island where you will find church ruins and one of the oldest houses, own by the same family for generations.

Saturday: Boat trip to the bird cliffs of Vestmanna.
After breakfast you drive north, towards the village Vestmanna. From here you will join a boat trip to the amazing bird cliffs of Vestmanna. You will sail along the cliffs of the mainland, and into some of the caves, there the birds will be nesting. Afterwards you continue further norths and enjoy the sight and landscapes along the way. From the village Leirvík you pass the underwater tunnel to the second biggest town of the Faroes – Klaksvík. The tunnel is decorated with lightings by the famous Faroese artis Tróndur Patursson. On the Island Viðoy you will find the northernmost village of the Faroes – Viðareiði. This village is definitely a worth a visit.

Sunday: Explore the Northern Islands, Borðoy, Kalsoy, Kunoy, Viðoy, Svínoy and Fugloy
Breakfast at your accommodation. From Klaksvík, which lies on the island of Borðoy, you can go with the ferry to the island of Kalsoy. Here you can see the Seal Woman in the village of Mikladalur. We suggest to leave your car at the harbour in Klaksvík and use the local bus service on the island.
By car you can visit the island of Kunoy. From the tiny village of Kunoy is a beautiful view of the island of Kalsoy. Above the village is a small cosy park.
From the village of Hvannasund you can take the ferry to the outer islands of Svínoy and Fugloy. In Fugloy there are two villages, Kirkja and Hattarvík, it is a very nice hike between the two villages – not possible to bring a car. By car you can also visit the island of Viðoy, here you will find the northernmost settlement of Viðareiði which is absolutely worth the scenic drive to visit. Remember to bring your own packed lunch for today.

Monday: Day at leisure
After breakfast you can spend a day at leisure in Gjógv. Follow some of the nice hiking routes in the ara, or spend a day driving around in your car observing everyday life. We also recommend visiting the picturesque villages of Saksun and Tjørnuvík.

Tuesday: Day at leisure
Enjoy breakfast at your accommodation before you head out, visiting some of the adjacent villages, for example Oyndarfjørður to see the Rocking Stones, which according to legend are two enchanted pirate ships that lie rocking calmly. Continue to the village of Runavík and visit the local tourist office for information and visiting hours for the charming Vicarage in the village of Nes. The yarn store Navia is located in the village of Toftir and has a large selection of Faroese sweater, yarn, wool, etc.

Wednesday: Departure
After breakfast you travel back towards Vager Island for your departure back to Copenhagen. We have several departures a day.
